Easiest way to find out is just get some quotes. I suggest going to Progressive.com and compare them. I doubt your insurance will be too expensive unless you get full coverage. Getting the state requirements and liability insurance will be your best bet.

Also make sure you dont get any traffic violations or wrecks and if you do make sure you get a lawyer because those things are what really jacks up your insurance.

You may also be eligible for certain discounts if you are a student and have taken a driving education class.

Last but not least when you do pick an insurance company be sure you stay with them. Because the longer you work with a certain company the more they will work with you on lower rates in the future.

Listen kid, you’re not even 16 yet….can hardly reach the pedals…what insurance company is going to give you “cheap” auto insurance?

Before you can earn the benefits of “cheap” auto insurance you need to “pay your dues” by showing, through experience, that you are a responsible driver and are worth the risk.

However, the first poster is correct in one regard, and that is pointing you to Progressive. I just switched from Farmers Insurance to Progressive and am saving about $300 per year so, compare their prices to other Insurance Company’s before deciding.

Go here for an online quote and see what might be available for you….

A word of caution….whatever your insurance rates will be to begin with, as soon as you (God forbid) have an accident or get some tickets, the rates will go up DRAMATICALLY….
so, be a good driver…it’ll save you lots of money.

Just went through this with my daughter.

    We tried

    Geico
    Safe Auto
    esurance.com

Geico blew them all away by far. She pays $84 / month for a 1990 Honda Civic , in Arizona.

Under 18 and a sports car, it’s going to be high. How high? I have no idea since that depends on a variety of factors I don’t know about, including your grades and ZIP code. Your best bet is to get an independent agent, give him your information and get some quotes.

Also, be aware that bringing a car into CA is going to be bothersome, and you will have to bring it up to CA standards to get it registered there.
